eh, I'm torn about that movie. it seems strongly anti-American. country takes over other civilization... wants to "kill" the other country and forcibly indoctrinate their lifestyle on them... sends a guy to infiltrate himself into the civilization and, big surprise, this guy wants to save the other country and believes the other people/creatures aren't that bad... I mean, c'mon. can anybody say: Afhganistan? Iraq? I'm not giving my personal opinion on the subject whatsoever, but that is SO OBVIOUS and I've only seen the trailers!

You may as well come quiet.

haha I just got home from a lecture by Tom Woods. I seriously suggest finding him on youtube. Anyway, after I was talking to some of the people in the group I went with about how the revolutionary war was really very un-Biblical, I mean read Romans 13... I'm not sorry that america is it's own country, and I can't say that it's right or it's wrong. But if you take those verses at face value...

Also, Jesus for President by Shane Clairborne is one of the best books ever. It's more about your own personal beliefs than the title would suggest- for example, God had it planned that He would be our king, and it was the people who decided that they wanted to be like the pagan nations and have a human king. God told them that they would regret it, that humans love power and subjecting themselves to that was a bad idea... but they just didn't listen.

I was reading an article on abortion and in my opinion abortion is murder of the unborn child. Does anyone agree?

Abortion is murder.... God never designed it, so why do we think we have the right to terminate a life that has no choice in the matter...

Turn up the music
Turn it up loud
Take a few chances
Let it all out
'Cause you won't regret it
Lookin' back from where you have been
'Cause it's not who you knew
And it's not what you did
It's how you live

Here's a fun question(s)...

When does life actually begin? At the moment of conception? Do we define conception as sperm fertilizing an egg or does the fertilized egg implanting in the uterus have anything to do with it? In other words, must all the necessary conditions for life to develop have taken place (fertilization and implantation) for an embryo to be considered a human being, do we consider it human before all the necessary conditions are there (just fertilization), or is it human before fertilization (as in, either the egg, the sperm, or both are human beings in an of themselves)? The relevance here is that all arguments against abortion typically rely upon the moral principle of killing an innocent, alive human to be immoral. Thus, when we become alive is of the utmost importance.

I just watched a documentary on that exact question. I'd recommend it but I forgot the name! I think life actually begins the second the sperm and egg contact. Well that's when a baby is formed... I have a question though, it taking birth control to prevent pregnancy wrong? In my mind it's almost like you're taking life before it had a chance to even start...I've been thinking about this subject for a long time and haven't talked to anyone. Can girls, and guys, give their thoughts? I just really struggle with the thought of planning children. Like they have to fit your schedule and financial status and when they are convenient...I'm going in circles here I'll just leave it at that.

Nevermind... I have a brilliant, computer-minded friend! OK, random question: If you're spending a summer away from home (i.e., at a Bible Camp) how can you ask a guy to be an "Older Brother" kind of guy?

If that's true then every "time of the month" is an abortion, as you are ridding yourself of an unused egg.

I just really struggle with the thought of planning children. Like they have to fit your schedule and financial status and when they are convenient

Why should we not plan when we are going to have children? Truth is, kids cost a lot of money, especially if you want to take proper care of them. Also, they require a great deal of mental and emotional devotedness, to the point that to lack in any of these three areas is to do a disservice to the child. I think, perhaps, you are looking at it backwards. It's not that the parents, selfishly, want the child to fit into their own special schedule, it's the the parents want to make sure they are in a place where they can best support and care for a child. In that way, it's actually selfless, because they may desire a child well before they are capable of taking care of one. Therefore, they are denying their own desires to the betterment of the child, as parents ought.

Hmmm.... I respectfully disagree. Birth control (when taken by married women) would be kinda like abortion, but it comes down to the couple's decision. There obviously would be the opportunity for a baby to be conceived, since both the egg and sperm would be present, but by taking the pill, you would stop one part of that.
The hormones in it also mess with your body, too.
IMO, single girls who have 'that time of the month', only the egg is present.
Tough one. I'll have to think about it. Does what I said make any sense??

God Can.

Yes, it does make sense, even if I must disagree. If using contraception (i.e., doing something that prevents pregnancy) is abortion in that you prevent life from starting (going against the more popular definition of abortion - ending a life that has already began), then every time your body ejects an egg or the male body ejects unused sperm, those particular eggs or sperm have been prevented from fostering the life they had the potential to foster (which, as stated above, is the now included in the definition of abortion). Thus, your "time of the month" is just as much abortion as contraception, if we agree that contraception is abortion.

hmmm agree and disagree. "that time of month" is not an abortion. Everything is ready fo a baby to be formed, just the sperm is absent. The whole "time of month" proecess keeps a woman's hormones in balance. If we never had it (which would be convenient) then our hormones would go crazy. And a woman is 95% hormanes!!
Maybe I am ooking at this backwards. My mom never used anything, and has 10 kids. I can't say I exactly want that many!! There were times when my dad was out of work and there was another bably on the way, we would wonder where the next meal would come from. But never ever have they said anything about any of us beign inconvenient. I love everyone of my 9 siblings. I used to tell mom that there were too many of us, and she would say "who do you want gone? Everyone said to stop after I had you, would you not want Colton, Jackson? ect" My older sis and I couldn't believe mom was going to have sibling #10, we were ready for a break, and my little sister is the most adorable girl, what if mom had taken the doctor's advice.... Mom always said it's wrong, wrong, wrong to use the pill unless you had a health problem. Now that I'm older I'm starting to wonder just what those reasons are for her saying it was so wrong!

christ child-- I don't think we're going to see Avatar, since we aren't sure if it'll be good or not.. we're waiting until it comes out on DVD to rent it, although multiple friend's of mine have seen it and said it was quite good...
